Circle Divided in Ratio 2:3:5

1)

A circle has center ‘O ‘ and circumference 240π

the points A ,B and C are on the circumference of the circle with center O

The rays OA ,OB and OC divides circle in to three

consecutive sector with central angles

∠AOB,∠BOC and ∠COA in the ratio 2:3:5

what is the length AB

O A B C

Solution:

” O ” is center of the circle The points A ,B and C are on the circumference of the circle

such that the rays OA , OB and OC dives the circumference of the circle in the ration 2;3:5.

the angle subtended by the rays are

2 parts = 2/10 ×360=1/5×360=72

length of the arc= (angle subtended by Arc/360) ×circumference of the circle

that is length of Arc AB = (72/360)×240π

That is length of the arc AB=(1/5)×240π

length of arc AB =48π

Correct ANS: Length of arc AB = 48π
